Your league

Connect your Sleeper or ESPN league and the calculator fills in your own budget and what you have left.

Spending evenly, you can put about $10 into each waiver run. Bid more than that on a player who changes your season, and less on one who does not.
To keep $3 for each of the 9 runs after this one, bid no more than $73 this week. A green ✓ marks the bids that fit.

FAAB calculator questions

What is a FAAB calculator?

FAAB is the Free Agent Acquisition Budget: a season's worth of play money every team in a league bids on waiver pickups with. A FAAB calculator turns advice given on one budget into bids for yours. Almost every expert gives their bids out of $100, so if your league plays with $1,000 or $200, their numbers need scaling before you can use them.

How does the calculator work out a bid?

Faabtastic reads the waiver wire articles from the top fantasy football experts every week and records what each suggests bidding on each player, out of $100. The calculator averages those bids and scales the average to your budget: an average of $12 on $100 is $120 on $1,000. A bid that comes to more than you have left shows in red: the experts rate that player higher than your balance can follow.

Should I bid out of my whole budget or what I have left?

The experts give their numbers as a share of a full season's budget, so that is what the calculator scales them to. What you have left decides whether you can afford to follow them. The pacing line spreads your balance evenly over the waiver runs still to come: a player worth more than that is a player worth spending ahead of pace on, and one worth less is a player to bid on without worrying about next week.

How does the calculator decide whether I can afford a bid?

It keeps money back for the rest of your season. For every waiver run after this one it holds back half of what your budget comes to per week over a whole season, about $3 a run on a $100 budget. A bid gets a green check when what you would have left after it still covers that, and a red cross when it does not. With $100 left and 14 runs to go, an $18 bid leaves plenty; with $50 left, anything over $11 would leave you short later on. On the last waiver run, everything you have left is fair game.

What is the trimmed mean?

The average of the experts' bids after the single highest and lowest are taken out, used once four or more experts have bid on a player. One expert who loves a player, or one who barely bothers, moves a plain average a long way; the trimmed mean is what the rest of them agree on.

When do the bids update?

Every week of the NFL season, as the waiver wire articles come out on Monday night and Tuesday after the week's games. The calculator uses the newest published week. From Thursday, once that week's waivers have run, until the next week's bids are up, it shows the finished week's numbers for reference and says so.
